Review : Surprisingly sturdy
I bought my copy in the '90s - for a kit of this vintage it's surprisingly well detailled, with some panel lines inscribed, and a lot of external detail.
The only areas in which it would lose out to newer moulds are in the areas of cockpit interior detailling, although a nice instrument panel with a (slightly mis-matched) instrument decal is supplied. The pilot and gunner are nicely sculpted (although the poses are a little stiff for my taste) and the flying surfaces are moveable. Even the rudder can be adjusted, but you need to take care not to snap it off. On my copy, the detail on the canopy transparencies was a little soft, but this may be a one-off - and they're all straight lines anyway, so painting the frame wasn't too difficult.
The floats are attached by substantial spars which slot into deep, square recesses making the model surprisingly sturdy, with none of the 'wobble' normally found in biplane and seaplane models.
