Review : Fun to Put Together, Not for Rivet Counters
This was a fun kit to put together, and a pretty good deal for the price. I purchased it after a long absence from the hobby, and I think I chose wisely.
This is one of the newer Airfix molds - clear of flash, with very sharp and deep panel lines. A fair amount of detail, but the cockpit is pretty sparse, with decals for the instrument panel and consoles, and the underside is missing a few access panels and other details. The cannon bulges are shaped incorrectly, and the conformal wing tanks are undersized. But despite those quibbles, it still very much looks like a MiG-15. If these details are an issue, the Hobby Boss kit is supposedly better in that regard.
The cockpit tub required some trimming to get it to fit, but the rest went together beautifully. Assembly took a few leisurely weekend hours to complete. The decals went on beautifully, and include a whole lot of stencils.
I'd recommend this kit for anyone, even the beginner.
